How to Play YouTube on Google Home

Google Home is Google’s smart speaker product line that gives its users on-demand, hands-free help with just a “hey, Google” voice command. Google Home’s voice command interface opens up a world of conveniences for its users.

With just a simple voice command like, “Hey, Google, play me my favorite YouTube playlist,” Google Home users will be able to enjoy their favorite videos or music like magic. You can also play YouTube videos on your Google Home smart speakers through the more conventional Bluetooth connection method. Just pair your mobile device with your Google Home smart speaker, and you will have remote access to your Google Home device through your phone.

Google Home’s amazing connectivity comes at a price, of course. The good thing, though, is that you can get your Google Home device that suits your budget and your needs. The Google Home line of products has devices that range from just $30 to its mid-range products at $120 to the Google Home Max, which is priced at a couple of hundred dollars. Google also gives you options of paid add-ons like VR goggles, display screen options, and Chrome-casting.

If you want to cast YouTube to Google Home speakers, the best experience is to let YouTube independently manage the playback of your YouTube videos or playlists while casting to your Google Home speakers. This way, you can conveniently minimize the YouTube App, open other apps on your phone, and still enjoy whatever you cast to your Google Home speakers.

You can do this if you are subscribed to a YouTube Premium account. A Youtube Premium account lets you minimize the YouTube app and still play videos and playlists. If playing games, browsing social media, and doing other things on your phone while listening to music is your thing, then try subscribing to a YouTube Premium account.

YouTube Premium also lets you play content even when your mobile device is locked. But if regular casting through Bluetooth is enough for you, then the steps we discussed previously will reliably cast any YouTube playlist or video to Google Home.
